the Boyd’s marquee in 1945 sported the film noir “Mildred Pierce.” To promote the movie, the film’s star Joan Crawford, was a guest of honor at a luncheon in Philadelphia prior to the movie’s exclusive local showcasing at the Boyd. The Boyd’ Theatre hosted many live appearances on stage by Golden Age Hollywood stars for Philadelphia premieres of their films.
